Upper Eyelids, Brows and Temples
BROWS AND TEMPLES
It is not an area we normally think about, but the temples are one of the earliest areas to show age in many people. Just as the fullness of youth projects health, the absence of fullness warns people that someone is old, starving or sick.
Loss of volume in the temples produces a sunken, bony, hollowed look and tends to draw the lateral corners of the brows downward, producing a less open-eyed, tired appearance. The skin of the temple becomes thin, and green/blue blood vessels now become visible and prominent. This problem is often more noticeable in men, because the temples are not generally covered by hair, whereas in women, the area can be camouflaged more easily. However, women accustomed to wearing their hair off the face, will often notice hollowing in the temples as they age. Filling in the temples with fat will create a more healthy, youthful appearance and often help to elevate the lateral brow and make the eyes look bigger.
Many of us will develop a hollowed-out, somewhat skeletal appearance in the brow/upper eyelid area as we age. It is also common for those who have had upper lid blepharoplasty in the past to have had too much fat removed, and for this same hollowed-out look to be an unwelcome result. The upper eyelid/brow area of a young person is soft and full. Placing fat into the upper eyelids and below the eyebrow will make the eyes look more youthful, and the patient more rested and healthy.
